SARAH SCHNEIER FINE
Telephone Conversation, December 31, 1995 to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (954) 733-0551.
Sarah's mother was Anna (Hannah) Belkin. Her brothers were Henry Battalen and Morris Battalyon (Ellis Island spellings). She thinks Anna was the youngest. Insists her maiden was Belkin, not Battalen. Anna (Hanna) married Abram Schneier. Their children were Samuel, Herbert (Hyman) and Sarah.
Remembers her mother Anna telling her that Sophie's mother Ida and she were first cousins; their parents were siblings. Thinks it was a sister and brother; however, would have to be brothers to have same last name. Could it be possible that Henry & Morris' Battalen father died and the mother remarried someone named Belkin, and that they then had Hanna?
Called in the am. - not a good time. Sarah didn't remember much and got a little confused. Said it was ok to call back at another time.
