According to his son Sol, Berl was a "tallis-macher" (he wove prayer shawls). He had a "factory," which was a few people working in a room. Described by his son Sol as "rich," but they still had lice and used outhouses like everyone else.

Sol said that his brother Uszer\'s wife was Devorah and that they had 11 children. I have found documentation for a wife named Brandla Cham that I cannot confirm entirely; his parents\' names are correct as are the dates, but that is not sufficient confirmation. I also have found documentation for two daughters named Chaya, one of whom died at age 21 and one who lived to marry and have a family. This is another case where I am not confident about the information. Sol had told me that three children had died before adulthood; Beyla is one and the other two I cannot account for.
